Microsoft has integrated Copilot features into its Microsoft 365 suite, increasing the price of Personal and Home subscriptions by $3 per month. Existing subscribers can continue paying the old rates until their current subscription period ends. Alternatively, users can retain the old pricing by opting out of Copilot features.
Previously, Copilot AI was available only through a separate $20-per-month Copilot Pro subscription. Now, the feature is included in the standard Microsoft 365 packages, with updated pricing reflecting this addition. However, Copilot Pro will remain available for $20 per month for those seeking priority access to the latest AI updates. The Microsoft 365 Personal subscription now costs $99.99 annually, while the Family plan, accommodating up to six users, costs $129.99 per year.
Global Expansion of Copilot AI Features
Initially tested in Australia, New Zealand, and select Asian countries, Copilot AI is now rolling out globally. Gareth Oystryk, Senior Director of Marketing for Copilot Pro and Microsoft 365, emphasized Microsoft’s commitment to making AI integration widely accessible. “Our goal is to bring the value of AI to as many people as possible,” Oystryk noted.
For users who prefer not to use AI features, Microsoft is introducing Personal Classic and Family Classic plans. These allow subscribers to keep their previous rates but exclude AI and significant updates, focusing only on security and minor improvements. New subscribers will automatically receive AI features if they opt for upgraded plans.
Additional Changes and AI Credits System
Microsoft is also launching an AI credits system within Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote, adds NIX Solutions. Subscribers will receive monthly credits to use AI tools, such as image generation in Designer. Copilot Pro users will enjoy unlimited access to these features. For those who do not wish to use AI, Microsoft is adding options to disable Copilot, currently available in Word and soon in Excel and PowerPoint.
With these updates, Microsoft continues to expand its AI offerings and adjust its pricing structure. We’ll keep you updated as more integrations and changes become available.
