NIX Solutions: Coalition for Secure Artificial Intelligence Formed

Google, OpenAI, Microsoft, Amazon, Nvidia, Intel, and other major players in the artificial intelligence market have announced the creation of the “Coalition for Secure Artificial Intelligence” (CoSAI). The initiative aims to address the “fragmented AI security landscape” by providing access to open-source methodologies, platforms, and tools.

Purpose and Impact

While the exact impact CoSAI intends to have on the artificial intelligence industry is not yet known, it is likely that issues such as protecting confidential information and addressing discriminatory problems within AI will be among the organization’s primary focuses, notes NIX Solutions. We’ll keep you updated on their progress and initiatives as they develop.

Key Participants and Structure

IBM, PayPal, Cisco, and Anthropic have also joined the CoSAI initiative. CoSAI will exist within the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS), a non-profit group that promotes the development of open standards. CoSAI highlights three main areas of focus: developing effective AI security practices, addressing common challenges in AI, and securing AI-powered applications.

“We have been using AI for many years and we see the benefits it can bring. But we also recognize its capabilities, which may be of interest to attackers. CoSAI is designed to help organizations small and large securely and responsibly integrate and leverage the benefits of AI in their ecosystems while mitigating any potential risks associated with it,” Heather Adkins, Google’s vice president of security, said in a statement.

We will continue to provide updates on CoSAI’s efforts and developments in AI security.
