However, this instruction has disappeared for unknown reasons, although the opportunity remains.
Changing from Microsoft Account to Local Account
The technical support website contains instructions for “Transitioning from a local account to a Microsoft account,” which, as you might guess, helps you stop using a local account in favor of a Microsoft account. On the same page, instructions were previously published describing the reverse process, i.e., switching from a Microsoft account to a local one. It has become known that this instruction, published on June 12, disappeared from the site on June 17 and still remains inaccessible.
Switching to using a local account is quite simple. You need to launch the “Settings” application in Windows 11, open the “Accounts” section, go to the “Your information” section, and select the “Sign in with a local account” option. Next, you just need to follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
Speculation on Microsoft’s Intentions
The reason for the disappearance of the instructions for switching to a local account is unknown. Most likely, Microsoft wants as many users as possible to abandon local accounts.
