Microsoft has announced that it will cease support for Office 2016 and Office 2019 suites on October 14, 2025. While mainstream support for these versions ended in October 2020 and October 2023 respectively, extended support will conclude next year. For those requiring an offline Office solution, Office LTSC 2021 remains an option until October 13, 2026. The awaited Office 2024 LTSC edition will be available for commercial preview this month.
Support and Features
Both Office 2024 and Office 2024 LTSC will receive five years of support on Windows 10 and Windows 11 platforms. However, Microsoft clarifies that these versions will offer only a subset of features compared to the cloud-based Microsoft 365 E3, such as enhanced meeting capabilities and improved Outlook search. Notably, certain advanced features like real-time collaboration and AI-powered automation will not be supported in Office LTSC 2024.
For organizations utilizing Exchange Server 2016 and Exchange Server 2019, Microsoft plans to unveil a new version in the latter half of next year. In the interim, customers are encouraged to migrate to Exchange Server 2019 to facilitate the transition to the upcoming release, adds NIX Solutions.
