At this week’s WWDC 2024, it was confirmed that OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot will be integrated with Apple’s Siri voice interface. Apple has indicated that ChatGPT will not be the only large language model (LLM) supported; if necessary, Apple could implement integration with other LLMs, such as Google Gemini.
Apple’s Senior Vice President, Craig Federighi, highlighted this in an interview following the opening of WWDC 2024, as noted by TechCrunch. “In the future, we expect integration with other models, including Google Gemini, for example,” Federighi explained. While he did not make any official announcements, he emphasized that this is the direction Apple is moving toward.

iOS 18 users will have access to ChatGPT without requiring separate payment or authorization in OpenAI services. The secure transfer of data will be managed transparently. Company representatives have explained that before switching to using OpenAI services, Apple users will receive a clarifying question from Siri to confirm this action.
